The deforestation of the area caused by the Emerald ash borer is almost complete. A number of trees have been removed from the area leaving a rather sparse tree population.

Just a reminder, if you have had a young tree put in within the last couple of years, during this time of heat it is a good idea to give them water and a good soaking. You can use a slow drip that will soak the ground around the trunk and it is best to let it run for several l hours. In order to avoid the water evaporating, it is a good idea to start it late evening and let it run all night.

Within a few years the entire neighbourhood will have been replanted and it appears there is going to be a healthy population of maples in the area. This should make for a scenic fall when the leaves change color.
