Shoutout and congrats to Lindsay for organizing the Halloween parade. She realized Halloween might be a bit different and disappointing for the kids and realized the kids need something. They are feeling the stress of covid as well. She took the initiative and brought this whole thing together for us. She definitely succeeded in her goal to create an enjoyable, memorable covid-19 safe event for Halloween.

Kudos has to be expressed to Deanna and Caleigh for their efforts in promotion and distribution for the event. They are the crew who made sure everybody in the neighborhood received a copy of the flyer and went door to door to ensure it happened.

It was an extremely successful event that covered the entire Westhill Village.

Everybody (adults and children) had a great time. Some chldren were heard to say "This is the best Halloween Ever" .

The entire village was decorated in a Halloween Theme with houses competing with each other to have the best and spookiest or scariest or just plain amusing house. It was a sight to behold. After the event several people walked in other areas around the town and said nowhere was as well done as our little enclave. Job well done by all the Villagers.

But, the biggest shoutout has to go to Linday - the organizer of this event. Kudo's to you Lindsay - again, job well done.

Thanks goes out to everybody who participated but especially to those who helped organize and get the word out.

The weather co-operated making the day especially great.

If you have any photos or videos of the day, please email them to your friends here at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We want to get the photo's posted so everybody can view them and remember this event.

There is talk in the neighbourhood of having it again next year so stay tuned.

The costumes had to be seen to believed. There was a giant pink unicorn, another costume - a  home made costume of one of the characters from Toy Story and the word is, it took him four days to make it and, demonstrating what a great sport he is, he shaved his beard to make it work. There was an entire family pack of cooked hotdogs in their buns - I think a family group came up with the idea created their costumes to co-ordinate. Again, as I said, you had to see it to believe it.

As anticipated, during the parade there was some car traffic so, the parade was accompanied by the occassion shout of "CAR", causing a few people to remark - metaphorically, we've got a game of street hockey going on here.

What a great neighbourhood. It is obviious, if this did not occur during the covid pandemic, there would be a great gathering of people after, talking and enjoying each others company, meeting new people and meeting neighbours they hadn't met before.

These are the people of our neighbourhood

If you are new to the Village - welcome and don't worry - we don't always dress this weird.

Apparently one of the residents couldn't contain the urge to run up and hug a Unicorn.

In an interview after he said "How often do you see a pink unicorn walking on your street. You're darn right when that happens I'm going to give it a hug." Note, this does not appear to be a case of covid physical distancing violation. Upon further investigation, it came to light the two are actually married.
